We love finding new Lake Michigan restaurants on our jaunts along the coast. You can enjoy small family run establishments or kick it up a notch and enjoy romantic, gourmet dining. Being close to Harbor Country allows us to visit the southwest Michigan restaurants on a regular basis.
We'll give you our favorites in Harbor Country along with other favorites along Michigan's west coast. There are some northern Michigan restaurants that are must visits when we make the trip.
While we always enjoy a fine dining experience, it's really hard to top good bar/pub and cafe food. Sue and I both love fish. Lake Michigan's perch and whitefish is as good as it gets if you're a fish lover. In my opinion the northern Michigan restaurants are where you'll find the best Lake Michigan whitefish. You'll also find many of the bars, restaurants and cafe's up north offering smelt (my fav), along with the whitefish, perch or walleye. I really recommend you try the fish when dining up-north.
No matter what your pallete desires, every beachtown will have a restaurant that will satisfy your mood and taste. You'll find the wine menus offering locally made favorites.
